Lively, St. Benedict, and St. Charles: What to Expect This Season

Lively, St. Benedict, and St. Charles: What to Expect This Season

The 2024 SDSSAA senior boys football season promises to be one of the most balanced in recent memory, with no clear front-runners or easy games on the horizon. While not predicting an entirely level playing field, it's entirely possible that the final standings will show no undefeated or winless teams this fall.

Lively Hawks (2-3)

The Lively Hawks, led by veteran coach Reg Bonin, are known for their steady improvement throughout the season and their ability to maximize the potential of every player on the roster. Returning quarterback Ian MacDonald reunites with key receivers Kaden Broomhead, Aiden Fauteux, and Koen Palmquist, while Sladen Gajdemski steps into the running back role. With strong linebackers and experienced linemen, the Hawks could be a dangerous underdog come playoff time.

St. Benedict Bears (1-4)

The Bears are in a rebuilding phase but have promising young talent that could take them far in 2025. With QB Phoenix Marks at the helm, and a solid group of linemen and skill players, the team is laying a strong foundation for future success. This year will be a key development season for the Bears.

St. Charles College Cardinals (0-5)

Though a winless season might seem possible for St. Charles, new head coach Chris Kohut is working with a young but talented squad. Hayden Walsh, a standout junior quarterback, transitions to the senior team, backed by familiar offensive weapons. Though the Cardinals face challenges, they have potential for growth.
